Brad Kasnick – Student Highlight

Boardman Training Center’s Featured
Student of the Month!

Brad Kasnick - Student HighlightBoardman Training Center is pleased to introduce our featured student of the month, Brad Kasnick!

Brad is a current student in BTC’s Phlebotomy Technician program, where he is expanding his healthcare knowledge and expanding his skill set through hands-on learning that he will apply to his future career. Before attending Boardman Training Center, Brad worked in emergency medical services and knew he wanted to stay in the healthcare field.

Attending classes at BTC was suggested to Brad by one of his former EMT instructors, and our small school setting seemed like a great fit for him. “I like the healthcare field and wanted to expand my skills,” he said. Brad’s favorite thing about Boardman Training Center is the small classroom environment and the one-on-one support students receive from instructors. In fact, when asked who his favorite instructor is, Brad says, “Melinda Peoples. She made the class enjoyable and focused on our individual needs.”

The Boardman Training Center Experience

Along with the personalized attention from instructors that BTC students can expect, additional benefits of attending Boardman Training Center include accelerated classes, certification preparation, flexible financing, hands-on training, and more. The small class sizes allow instructors to focus on each individual student’s needs to provide them with the best possible educational experience.

Additionally, the hands-on training students receive as a part of the program curriculum will prepare them to sit for their industry-specific National Healthcareer Association certification* exams. In Brad’s case, as a phlebotomy technician student, he will prepare to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* exam.

What Brad Will Learn At Boardman Training Center

During his time as a phlebotomy technician student, Brad will develop many skills that will make him a valuable asset to multiple healthcare facilities. Some of the techniques and concepts he will learn include:

  • Anatomy and physiology,
  • Skin puncture techniques,
  • Specimen collection procedures,
  • Correct equipment use and care,
  • Health industry best practices,
  • Infection control, and more.

Brad’s training at the Boardman Training Center will better prepare him for careers in blood and plasma centers, outpatient clinics, hospitals, laboratories, physician’s offices, and other medical facilities. Upon graduating from BTC, Brad hopes to work as a phlebotomy technician in a hospital setting or apply his skills in a different state through a travel agency.

Boardman Training Center Prepares You For The Future

The combination of knowledge, skills, and connections Brad will leave Boardman Training Center with will help set him up for a successful healthcare career. At BTC, each instructor and faculty member’s top priority is to ensure every student is prepared to enter the workforce upon completion of their program.

Brad would refer a friend to attend one of Boardman Training Center’s healthcare programs, “The small classroom environment is great,” he said. His advice for someone coming into a program at BTC? “Keep an open mind, be ready to learn,” Brad said. “The class goes fast.”

The Boardman Training Center team is so excited to see how Brad will utilize the knowledge and skills he gained during his education, combined with his prior EMT training, to thrive in the phlebotomy field!
