Medical Assisting Specialist Program
The 12-week Medical Assisting Specialist Program at Boardman Training Center (BTC) is designed to prepare students for a career as medical assistants in the Youngstown, New Castle, and Boardman areas. The program covers a wide range of topics, including basics in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, patient identification, and infection control.
EKG Program
Those looking to acquire healthcare certifications* should consider this program. Students receive an introduction to an electrocardiograph (EKG) machine and heart monitors and an understanding of the results of EKG recordings. Skills acquired include identifying basic, normal EKG waveform morphology, describing the normal physiology of cardiac conduction, distinguishing between basic dysrhythmias, and describing the distinguishing features and associated treatments for each basic dysrhythmia.
Phlebotomy Program
Students who are part of this Boardman career school program receive an introduction to the use of specimen collection equipment, collection procedures and skin puncture techniques, and acceptable standards of work in the industry. Basics in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, patient identification, infection control, universal precautions, safety, best practices in the healthcare field, and the development of basic phlebotomy skills are provided.
Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Program
The 12-week Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Program at Boardman Training Center is designed to prepare students for medical billing and coding careers in the Youngstown, New Castle, and Boardman areas. The program covers a wide range of topics, including extensive knowledge of the compliance of the auditing route of medical billing, a basic understanding of the coding system, and both inpatient and outpatient coding to the new ICD-10 standards. Students will also be trained in medical claims fraud and abuse.
