Cardio Phlebotomy Program
This technical education program trains students for entry-level positions in the healthcare field. Graduates can go on to work in hospitals, out-patient centers, laboratories, private physicians’ offices, skilled care and long-term care facilities or related medical facilities including emergency rooms, trauma wards, burn wards, and wound and cancer treatment centers.
EKG Technician
Those looking to acquire healthcare certifications should consider this program. Students receive an introduction to an electrocardiograph (EKG) machine, heart monitors, and an understanding of the results of EKG recordings. Skills acquired include identification of basic, normal EKG waveform morphology, being able to describe the normal physiology of cardiac conduction, distinguishing between basic dysrhythmias, and describing the distinguishing features and associated treatments for each basic dysrhythmia.
Phlebotomy Technician
Students who are part of this Boardman career school program receive an introduction to the use of specimen collection equipment, collection procedures and skin puncture techniques, and acceptable standards of work in the industry. Basics in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, patient identification, infection control, universal precautions, safety, best practices in the healthcare field, and the development of basic phlebotomy skills are provided.
Medical Office Specialist
Students who successfully complete the Cardio Phlebotomy program have the opportunity to take the Medical Office Specialist program to prepare for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and Certified Billing and Coding Specialist exams.
This Boardman technical training program trains medical assisting students in direct patient care and front office administration. Skills delivered include vital signs, patient intake, charting, collection of laboratory specimens, injections, suture removal, oral medication, visual acuity, and basic wound care. The program also trains students to assist in areas of HIPAA, compliance, and insurance processing. Students will become proficient in scheduling, pre-authorizations and referrals, and proper completion of CMS 1500 forms.
