Zoe Nalbach – Student Highlight

Zoe Nalbach - Student HighlightMeet Zoe Nalbach, our student highlight feature for this week here at Boardman Training Center!

Zoe is currently attending our Medical Office Specialist program at BTC, which will allow her to have various healthcare career opportunities. While enrolled in the Medical Office Specialist program, Zoe will learn valuable skills, including phlebotomy, EKGs, medical billing, and basic coding.

Once she completes the program, Zoe may choose to sit for several National Healthcareer Association certification exams, which include the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)*, Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)*, and Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)* certification exams.

Having a wide variety of healthcare skills that are learned will help Zoe in many areas of her future career, which is one of the reasons she chose to attend the Boardman Training Center. “I like that there are so many growth opportunities,” Zoe said, “It lets me live my dreams of becoming a woman of all trades.”

Before becoming a student at BTC, Zoe attended a few different schools, but she was not excited about her education. When asked why she chose BTC, she replied that she was looking to receive a quality education. “I was craving a fresh start at a facility where I was going to get an education. Boardman Training Center offered programs that sparked my interest, and I knew I was finally where I belonged.”

When asked about her favorite part of attending BTC, Zoe believes the people are what makes the school. “I have met so many fantastic people who are so driven and smart,” she said. “It keeps me ambitious and motivated.”

Zoe will become a well-rounded healthcare professional through her phlebotomy, EKG, and medical office classes. By learning fundamental skills, including patient intake and charting, basic wound care, injections, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996), and the collection of laboratory specimens, she is prepared to take the next step in her career.

So far in her education, Zoe’s favorite class is her EKG course because of the hands-on approach to learning, and she applauds instructors Sandy and Missy for keeping class interesting and fun.

When Zoe completes her program, she hopes to use her certification* to get a job in an emergency or surgical setting. In five years, she would like to further her career in the medical field by obtaining her surgical technician license and eventually working toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Zoe says her dream job is to be a part of a cardiac team.

Zoe states that she absolutely recommends Boardman Training Center, “I think it is a great education with great staff to keep you on track.” She offers advice to anyone looking into furthering their education at BTC, “The programs fly by, and it really is worth all the time spent.”
