Meet Ashley Schulze, our graduate highlight feature for this week here at Boardman Training Center!
Ashley is a graduate of the Cardio Phlebotomy training program at BTC. As she completed her cardio phlebotomy classes, Ashley learned valuable hands-on skills that will set her up for success in her future healthcare career. Some of the skills Ashley performed in the program include practicing fundamental patient care, drawing blood, and performing EKGs.
“I wanted to expand my knowledge and learn more about different medical careers,” said Ashley when asked why she chose the Cardio Phlebotomy program.
Before deciding to enroll at Boardman Training Center, Ashley was an STNA but wanted a change in her career. She previously attended college and said, “it was nice to learn more about medical careers. I chose to study surgical technologist to be involved in surgeries.”
When looking for a program that would allow her to learn more about different healthcare careers, Ashley liked a variety of things about Boardman Training Center.
“I liked that it was fast-paced and not too far from home. It seemed like it was a nice area to learn at,” said Ashley.
As she attended healthcare training classes at BTC, Ashley says her favorite part was “learning new things within the medical field and meeting new friends!”
Ashley says all her teachers were her favorite, and her favorite classes were “EKG and phlebotomy because of the new knowledge and hands-on learning.”
As a trained cardio phlebotomy professional, Ashley will be prepared to work in various healthcare facilities, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, labs, long-term care facilities, emergency rooms, and cancer treatment centers.
In addition to learning valuable knowledge and practicing hands-on skills while in the Cardio Phlebotomy program, Ashley prepared for numerous professional healthcare certifications, including Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* and Certified EKG Technician (CET)*.
After graduation, Ashley’s ideal job is to work in a lab and do blood draws. In five years, she would like to see herself finished with another degree and be successful in her career. Ashley says that she thinks Boardman Training Center is a good place to learn, but only for certain people.
