Tagina Morris – Student Highlight

Meet Boardman Training Center’s Featured Student of the Month, Tagina Morris!

Tagina Morris Graduate Highlight BTC BlogBoardman Training Center (BTC) is thrilled to introduce Tagina Morris, our featured student of the month. Tagina is a student in BTC’s Phlebotomy and EKG programs, where she is learning the skills and techniques she needs to work in the healthcare field.

Before attending Boardman Training Center, Tagina attended a different institution where she took medical assisting classes that gave her valuable insight into the possibilities of a healthcare career. “It made me really want to be in the medical field,” she said. Prior to making the shift toward a healthcare career, Tagina had been working in a different industry for over two decades. She decided it was time to make the change when she faced medical retirement from her previous position, so she turned to Boardman Training Center. “I like the medical field and want to help people,” she said. “I can do this without having to go to school for an extended period of time.”

BTC’s Approach To Education

Tagina says that she chose to attend Boardman Training Center because of its inviting atmosphere and the school’s comprehensive training. “It is a very well-rounded school,” she said. “I was made to feel welcomed and very comfortable in my decision to attend the school.”

Another benefit of attending Boardman Training Center that appealed to Tagina is the smaller class sizes. This allows instructors to have a more individualized approach to education. “The staff is so understanding and helpful,” she said. “They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.”

BTC prides itself on providing each student with one-on-one training to ensure they have mastered the skills they need for successful healthcare careers. In Tagina’s case, BTC’s EKG instructor, Mrs. Durch, significantly impacted her education. “She made it very comfortable and made the learning process very interesting,” Tagina said. “She made sure I had a clear understanding.”

Students at Boardman Training Center benefit from smaller class sizes, one-on-one instruction, hands-on learning, and preparation for industry-specific National Healthcareer Association certifications*. The training Tagina receives in her Phlebotomy and EKG programs will prepare her to sit for the NHA’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* and Certified EKG Technician (CET)* examinations. Earning industry-specific certifications proves to potential employers that you possess the skills, knowledge, and experience to work in your chosen field with confidence and safety.

The skills, knowledge, and certifications* Tagina gains from Boardman Training Center will set her on the path to achieving her dream career. She says her ideal career upon graduation is working for Veteran Affairs (VA) or being a traveling EKG technician or phlebotomist. Regardless of the career path she chooses, BTC is confident that Tagina will leave our doors as a confident and competent healthcare professional.

Tagina’s Advice For New Students

When asked if she would recommend Boardman Training Center to someone looking to start their educational journey, Tagina says, “Yes, I think it is a very good school. They care about the students, and they make sure to express that.”

Another benefit of choosing to attend Boardman Training Center is that students can complete multiple programs in less time, like Tagina who is completing both the phlebotomy and EKG programs. Her advice for incoming students is to do it! “Take as many classes as you can so that you can have plenty of choices for your career.”

Boardman Training Center’s helpful staff and faculty are here to help each student work toward a better future for themselves. The support you can expect from BTC is unwavering; each and every member of the BTC team is in your corner throughout your education. Tagina says that attending Boardman Training Center has better prepared her for her future career. “It has shown me that at my age, I can do this.” she said. “If I had any doubts, I don’t anymore.”
