Meet Nikki Granger, our Boardman Training Center highlight for this week!
Nikki started at Boardman Training Center in March 2014 as an Admissions Advisor and her role has grown from there.
Today, she does a little of everything including greeting and helping students, enrolling students, proctoring exams, planning events, assisting with managing BTC social media, and serving as a lab instructor for phlebotomy.
“If I’m doing my best job, students should love their education and be prepared for their career,” says Nikki. She strives to set a great example for students and has an open-door policy to help them achieve their goals and get their careers on a fast track.
Before starting as an employee at Boardman Training Center, Nikki was actually a student herself, so she has first-hand experience on what students need to be successful. In 2013, Nikki was an STNA and decided she wanted to do more to help people. This led her to enroll in the Cardio-Phlebotomy program and go on to complete the Patient Care Technician program here at BTC.
Nikki decided to make the move from student to employee at BTC because many of the students reminded her of herself, and she wanted to be part of helping them achieve something.
Nikki says there are many things she loves about working at BTC, but her favorite is seeing students succeed and achieve their goals. She works every day to make a positive impact on the lives of her students. “Put love into your work and love everyone that you have,” she says.
“I just love my job. I can’t even express that enough,” says Nikki. “I look at my job like I could be helping my own child.”
As for what she has accomplished while working at BTC, Nikki considers helping students enroll for classes to be her most important accomplishment, because she is helping them to better their lives and take such a big step for their future.
Outside of work, Nikki loves spending time with her daughter, who is active in both bowling, softball, and band. Nikki also serves as the Assistant Treasurer of Struthers Band Boosters, helping to raise money for band students.
