Finding the Right Program
Kristen’s decision to attend BTC was influenced by her employer, who selected the school for her training. What started as an opportunity to gain additional education became a rewarding experience.
She pursued the Phlebotomy program, stating, “It was a great experience. The instructor was very knowledgeable and always helpful. Everyone was quick to offer help and advice.” For Kristen, having an experienced and supportive instructor made a meaningful difference. She appreciated being surrounded by people who were willing to answer questions, provide guidance, and help her succeed throughout the program.
Another benefit was BTC’s convenient location. She says one of her favorite parts of attending Boardman Training Center was that “It is close to my work,” allowing her to continue working for her current employer while completing her training.
While gaining career-focused skills was an important part of her experience, one of the most rewarding aspects of her time at BTC was the people she met along the way. When asked what she found most rewarding about her experience, she simply said: “The people I have met.”
Building relationships with instructors and classmates throughout the program can make a major difference in a student’s educational experience. For Kristen, those connections became one of the highlights of her time at Boardman Training Center.
Looking Ahead in Her Career
Kristen’s goal after completing her program is to stay in her current job and advance within it. Rather than looking for an entirely new career path, she used her time at BTC to strengthen the skills she needs to move forward where she is.
When asked how BTC has helped her, she explained: “They gave me the tools I need to continue at my current job.” Looking five years into the future, she hopes to “advance in my employment.” Her story is a great example of how career training can complement the experience students are already gaining in the workplace.
Advice for Future Students
Kristen says she would recommend Boardman Training Center to a friend because of the supportive environment: “Yes, they are friendly and helpful.”

If there is one piece of advice she wants future BTC students to remember, it is to stay committed to their studies and remain calm throughout the process: “Study, study, study, and stay calm.”
