Meet The Boardman Training Center Featured Student Of The Month!
Boardman Training Center is excited to introduce our featured student of the month, Keisha Laveina!
Keisha is a current student in BTC’s Cardio Phlebotomy program, where she is learning the skills and techniques she can use to apply to her future career. As a recent high school graduate, before attending Boardman Training Center, Keisha was researching schools and deciding which career training programs were the best fit for her. She ultimately decided on BTC because she knew the training she would receive would equip her with the tools needed for her healthcare career, and she loved the welcoming environment Boardman Training Center provided.
Keisha’s Student Experience At Boardman Training Center
During her time as a student in Boardman Training Center’s Cardio Phlebotomy program, Keisha will gain knowledge, develop skills, and be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association certification* exams. Students who complete the Cardio Phlebotomy program will enter the workforce with versatile skills that will make them valued assets in the healthcare industry. Some places where cardio phlebotomy professionals can apply their skills upon graduation include doctor’s offices, hospitals, emergency rooms, laboratories, clinics, outpatient centers, and other medical facilities. In addition, Boardman Training Center equips students with training in the following:
- Patient Data Entry
- Administrative Tasks
- Infection Control
- Equipment Management and more
One of Keisha’s favorite parts of attending Boardman Training Center is the interactive phlebotomy classes. During these courses, she will experience one-on-one instruction in small-sized classes to ensure she gets the most out of her education. “My favorite is that they have room for understanding and accommodations,” Keisha says.
The individualized instruction BTC offers also sets students up for success. “The teacher[s] genuinely want what’s best for you,” Keisha says. Not only do the instructors care, but every Boardman Training Center team member will be in your corner, cheering you on throughout your education. Students in any program at BTC have available to them academic, career, and personal resources to help them reach their goals both inside and outside of the classroom. When asked about her favorite parts of attending Boardman Training Center, Keisha says, “They help you in your search for a job.” The connections you can make with local employers through BTC can also help set you up for success!
Keisha’s Future As A Boardman Training Center Alumn
By completing the Cardio Phlebotomy program at BTC, Keisha opens up career opportunities to work in the healthcare field. In five years, she hopes to work in cardio phlebotomy while furthering her education at a university. Completing short-term certificate programs such as the ones offered at Boardman Training Center can allow students to enter the workforce to begin gaining experience and earning an income and give them the flexibility to continue their education if they choose to. Additionally, BTC alums leave their training program with a versatile skill set, which can open doors to vast career options. After graduation, Keisha hopes to secure a job that allows her to continue learning about the healthcare field and her education.
