Jennifer Burdick is a recent graduate of the Boardman Training Center (BTC) Phlebotomy program and our graduate of the month for July.
Every student’s journey is unique, and at BTC, those journeys are shaped by determination, growth, and a drive to succeed. Through hard work, determination, and the support of her peers and instructors, Jennifer made the most of her time at BTC and is now looking ahead to an exciting future.

Before BTC
Before enrolling at BTC, Jennifer Burdick attended Youngstown State University (YSU), where she had a good experience. She was also working prior to starting her training, making it important to find a program that fit her schedule.
Jennifer chose BTC because “I heard many good things from former students and the hours were flexible to work around my current work schedule.” This flexibility made it possible for her to pursue her education without putting her current responsibilities on hold. For many students like Jennifer, finding a program that fits into their daily life is key, and BTC provided that opportunity.
Jennifer’s BTC Experience
At BTC, Jennifer Burdick enrolled in the Phlebotomy program, and she shared, “It was a great experience.” Throughout the program, she gained hands-on training and practical knowledge that prepared her for real-world healthcare settings.
She chose this field because “It was a balance of working with people and working independently. It’s also fast-paced.” This combination made phlebotomy an ideal fit for her interests, offering both patient interaction and the ability to work confidently on her own in a dynamic environment.
Jennifer’s experience at BTC was shaped not only by what she learned but also by the people she met along the way. Her favorite part of attending BTC was her instructor and classmates, who helped create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. In fact, she shared that the most rewarding part of her time was “Meeting my fellow classmates.” Building those connections made her experience even more meaningful and memorable.
Looking Ahead
With her training complete, Jennifer Burdick has clear and exciting goals for her future. After graduation, she hopes to be a “Phlebotomist in a hospital setting,” where she can apply her skills in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Her dream job is to work “full-time as a phlebotomist in a warm state,” combining her passion for healthcare with a lifestyle she looks forward to. When thinking about the future, Jennifer shared that in five years she sees herself “Hopefully, working at a hospital as a full-time phlebotomist but somewhere with no snow.” Her goals reflect both her professional ambitions and her personal aspirations, showing a clear vision for what success looks like to her.

When asked if she would recommend BTC to a friend, she said, “Yes, the whole faculty is extremely helpful and encouraging. Her advice to future students is simple: “Come to class, and you’ll be fine.” Staying committed, showing up, and putting in the effort can go a long way.
