Explore Our Programs
The first step in enrolling for classes at Boardman Training Center is to research the programs we offer and determine which best fits your individual goals. To make this decision easier, you can ask yourself the following questions:
- Do I want to work with patients directly?
- What healthcare environment do I see myself working in?
- What specific skills do I want to learn?
Students interested in working directly with patients of all ages in a medical facility and learning blood drawing skills should consider entering the BTC Phlebotomy Technician program. As a phlebotomy technician, your duties can include collecting medical specimens to help doctors gain insight into a patient’s health, proper maintenance of equipment, comforting patients through uncomfortable blood draw procedures, and more. Your training at BTC will equip you with the knowledge of proper specimen collection, skin puncture techniques, and basic phlebotomy skills. At the end of the program, you will be prepared to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* exam.
For students who are better equipped to perform other types of testing while still having a direct-patient care role, attending the EKG Technician program may be a better choice. Electrocardiograph technicians play a key role in identifying potential heart conditions. As a BTC EKG Technician training program student, you can expect to learn things like using a heart monitor, distinguishing between basic dysrhythmias, and more. At the end of the program, students will be prepared to sit for the Certified EKG Technician (CET)* exam.
For students who want to learn a combination of both phlebotomy and EKG skills, the BTC Cardio Phlebotomy program may be the perfect fit. As a cardio phlebotomy technician, you will possess various skills that allow you to work directly with patients and help the medical team provide the patient with excellent care. This comprehensive program teaches students skills, including performing EKGs, drawing blood, venipuncture techniques, controlling infections, and practicing fundamental patient care. At the end of this program, students will be prepared to sit for two National Healthcareer Association certification exams: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* and Certified EKG Technician (CET)* exams.
