Keep reading this blog to learn more about Carol’s journey, what motivated her to pursue a career in healthcare, and how her experience at Boardman Training Center prepared her to achieve her professional goal of working in the healthcare field.
Choosing BTC
Before attending Boardman Training Center, “I was working at a Chipotle in Salem, OH.” During that time, Carol gained valuable experience in customer service, communication, and working in a fast-paced environment. While she appreciated the skills she developed, Carol knew she wanted to pursue a career that offered more long-term growth and the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives, which led her to healthcare.
“I chose Boardman Training Center because my daughter and I liked the Phlebotomy program,” she explained, noting that the program stood out as a practical and meaningful opportunity to enter a growing industry. The decision was one she felt confident about, as it aligned with both her personal goals and her desire to build a better future.
She also spoke highly of the support she received during the admissions process. Her admissions team member “was very kind and explained all of our questions in a detailed manner.” That patience and thorough guidance helped ensure that she felt informed and comfortable every step of the way, making the transition into training a positive and encouraging experience.
Carol’s BTC Experience
Reflecting on her time in the Phlebotomy program, Carol shared, “My experience with the program was amazing, and I got to meet such wonderful women in the process.” Throughout her training, she built meaningful connections with her peers, forming a supportive network that made the experience even more rewarding. These relationships, combined with the hands-on learning environment, helped create a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
When asked why she chose the phlebotomy technician training program, Carol explained, “I wanted to be in the healthcare industry, and I thought this was the best way to step into a role of a healthcare worker.” For her, the program represented an accessible and practical pathway into a field she was passionate about. She was motivated by the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives while also building a stable and fulfilling career.
Carol also highlighted several aspects of her experience that stood out the most. “My favorite part of attending BTC was the program length, the people, and all the instructors,” she said. She appreciated that the program was structured to allow her to gain the necessary skills in a relatively short time, making it easier to transition into the workforce. In addition, she valued the sense of community among her classmates and spoke highly of the instructors, who were knowledgeable, supportive, and dedicated to helping students succeed. Overall, her time in the program left a lasting impression and reinforced her confidence in pursuing a future in healthcare.
What’s Next?
After graduating from the program, she has a clear vision for her future and the direction she hopes to take in the healthcare field. With a strong interest in flexibility and patient-centered care, she shared, “I want to be a mobile phlebotomist. My dream job would be a mobile phlebotomist.” The idea of traveling to meet patients where they are and providing essential services outside of a traditional clinical setting is especially appealing to her, as it combines independence with meaningful, hands-on work.
Her experience in the program helped solidify this goal, giving her both the confidence and foundational skills needed to begin pursuing opportunities in phlebotomy. She is motivated not only by career advancement but also by the ability to make a direct impact on patients’ experiences in healthcare settings.
Looking further ahead, she also has long-term ambitions for growth within the medical field. In 5 years, she plans “to be a medical assistant.” She sees this as a natural next step in expanding her knowledge and responsibilities, allowing her to continue building a well-rounded career in healthcare. With her determination and clear goals, she is focused on steadily advancing while staying committed to helping others.

When asked whether she would recommend the program to others, Carol responded enthusiastically and with confidence. “Yes, I would refer a friend because I feel like BTC is a nice place to learn, and the programs are short but give very detailed information.” She appreciated the balance the program offered, providing comprehensive, hands-on training while still being completed in a relatively short amount of time. For Carol, this made it an ideal option for individuals looking to gain valuable skills quickly. She also valued the welcoming and supportive learning environment, which helped her feel comfortable and encouraged throughout her experience.
In addition to her recommendation, Carol offered practical advice for future students considering enrollment. She emphasized the importance of responsibility and consistency, stating, “Make sure you show up on time and be prepared for class every day.” She believes that staying committed, being punctual, and coming ready to learn each day are key factors in getting the most out of the program.
